ABOUT LILLY
OVERVIEW
Hello music lovers! My name is Lilly Scott. I have been sharing my love of music, with students of all ages, as a private music instructor since 2012.
I specialize in advanced vocal instruction and talent development. I primarily teach piano, guitar, songwriting, ukulele, bass, theory, and basic acting instruction, audition skills, and college audition prep.
My primary student base is children, ages 4-16. I also have many adult students, whom I usually teach voice, guitar, or piano. I also teach hour-long group vocal classes seasonally. On average, I teach around 30 lessons a week, mostly 30/45 minute sessions, and several hour long sessions in addition to my group classes. The majority of my instruction takes place over FaceTime/Zoom, or in the student’s home.
I just recently moved back to my home of Colorado from New York City.
I am now based in Idaho Springs, Colorado, where I am head engineer/producer of my own own recording studio, “The Mine.”
Many of my longstanding students have continued with me as their teacher via Zoom/Facetime, regardless of me moving or being on tour. I am proud to say I have students everywhere from NYC to LA to Seattle.
Location of the student is no issue, and I am happy to teach you wherever you are, whether it be in person, or virtually!

Degrees & Training
Certification of Professional Vocal Instruction
-Academy of the Arts, Denver, COPerforming Arts Degree
-Jefferson County Open School, Lakewood, CO
I have been a vocalist and a professional musician all of my life. I began taking private music lessons at four years old for voice and piano, and participated in various traveling choirs and special performances at a young age. I even sang the National Anthem all by myself at Mile High Stadium in Denver when I was just five years old!
Throughout my grade school years, I continued taking private instruction, moving onto songwriting, musical theater/performance art of all kinds, and stage development.
Among performing, touring, recording and writing, I eventually learned one of my true passions was teaching music to others.
I started my teaching career when I was 19 years old, and became certified by the incredible Dr. Scott Martin at the Academy Of The Arts in Denver.
Shortly after I became certified to teach, I decided to try out for American Idol, and I became a Top 12 finalist on Season 9. As a contestant, I worked with some of the finest industry professionals in Hollywood, and honed my craft. I have performed on the Ellen DeGeneres show, various TV news broadcasts, and headlined national music festivals.
I continued to work as a teacher after American Idol, and became Lead Vocal Instructor and Assistant Director for summer camps at Neighborhood Music Denver for four years.
My career then took me to New York City in 2014, where I lived up until the pandemic. My career catapulted upon transitioning to the Big Apple, where I had upwards of 40 private students a week, located all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. I worked for myself, in addition to being a private instructor for voice/piano/guitar at Play On! Studios NYC. I held recitals for my students in incredible historic venues such as Carnegie Hall, Central Park Bandshell, and Lincoln Center. I was also the music director for the 2018 run of “Xanadu”, at Manhattan School of Music.
Since then, I have been successful with many different projects, and have released multiple full length records. I have my music featured in several different feature-length films and ads. I’ve been a guest vocalist on other artists’ projects, and have done several nationwide tours, alongside national and international acts.
My career is always expanding in incredible ways, with both being a teacher, and a professional musician. I am so grateful to have spent my life sharing my love of music with students and fans all over the world!
